LAMAYURU ALCHI TREK

Lamayuru is a quaint village that explodes with Ladakhi Buddhist heritage. It’s intriguing to experience it first hand, interacting with the local folk and visiting the monasteries. You can climb up to Mediation Hill and observe the heavenly moonscapes of Lamayuru.

Day 1 : Leh arrival ( Delhi to Leh, it takes only two hours by flight)
Arrival in  the morning and check into Hotel. Leh is at an altitude of 3500mts.All the guests are advised to rest entire day. A successful trek in Ladakh requires visitors to acclimatize well.

Day 2 :  Local sightseeing
To the ancient palace of Leh which houses relics that belong to the sixteenth century rular of Ladakh, which was built by the King Singhe Namgyal in 1600, there after we visit two of the major gompas Shey, Thiksey and Hemis monasteries.

Day 3:  Leh to Lamayuru (125 kms).
It takes four hours to reach Lamayuru.Below the monastery there is a nice camping ground where we camp for the night.

Day 4 : Lamayuru to Wanla across Pritikingi La ( 8kms  4-5hrs)
Today is a short and easy trek from Lamayuru (3450m) the trail goes down to the stream, and then the trek winds its way up through a barren gorge of yellow loes clay to the Printikngir La(3506m). Across the pass a steep descent leads you to a gorge which further takes to the entrance of village Wanla (3200m)

Day 5 : Wanla (10 kms, 5-6hrs)
from Wanla we follow upstream Jeep trek towards Panji La (3400m). acroos the pass the trail descends to a stream  and further ahead  lies the village Hinju (3750m).

Day 6 :  Hinju to Sumdha Chenmo (8kms; 4-5 hrs).
It is a relatively easy climb for the first two hours above Hinju through several summer pastures. The trail leads upward from the stream as we ascend to Kongske La (4900m). The views from the top are worth the climb.The descend from the pass to the village of Sumdha Chenmo takes approximate two hrs.

Day 7 : Sumdha Chenmo to Sumdha Chun (5-6 hrs)
This trek goes past many grazing areas with several streams crossings. This village has a beautiful Gompa form the Alchi era. Campsite is just beyond the village.

Day 8 : Sumdha Chun to Alchi across Stakspi La (10 kms, 6-7hrs)
Today’s trek is a steep climb for almost four hours with the last is stretch is rocky ground. The view from the Pass is wonderfuI. It takes three hour more to reach Alchi.

Day 9 : Alchi to Leh (70 kms)
The morning will be use to explore Alchi monastery which has some of the rerest frescoes in the world. Night stay will be at Leh.

Day 10 : Departure in the morning after breakfast
